“Cornelia stood completely still while the wheezing came closer and closer. At the last moment she crawled into a flower pot, where half rotten stems hang down to the tiles like a curtain. She crouched behind the stinking, slimy carpet and looked curiously out. Three pitch black figures approached. They floated away like moths without touching the ground. As large as adult men, but strangely formless in black capes.”

SUMMARY:

At the flea market in Heatherfield feels Cornelia attracted to an old painting. As she gets closer, she discovers that it looks emits a weak scent of roses. At the same time there is something wrong in Fanu, where the Pristine Rose is beginning to lose its leaves. If the rose withers so does the city. But who is the woman who has settled next to the rose? Why does she puts thorns in the cheek of other people? W.I.T.C.H. are needed – but Cornelia seems to have other plans…
